Their thirst for victory can make them more dangerous! Can FC Goa make a strong comeback?

Out of the first two league games, FC Goa haven't been able to win. They are known for their Goal Scoring abilities, their engine driven Midfield and a well organised defence. Their combined organization as a unit was a great threat to the opponents. But this year, they haven't found stability. Let us take a deep look, on the problem they're facing.

Problems in Squad

Departure of Igor Angulo and Ishan Pandita was a major mistake FC Goa made. Airam and Devendra who came to fill that void is not able to do that so far. They are not able to convert set-pieces and chances into goals. Unlike last year, their midfield is not able to get a rhythm. Their midfield was a great threat for the opposition. So far, they are not on track. Previously their midfield used to control the game. But this season, we witnessed errors, either making mispasses in the defensive half and therefore helping the opponents or losing balls in the attacking half. In defense too, things are not going so well. They have conceded 6 goals from 2 matches so far. Inexperienced Indian CB's is the main headache. Ivan is also not able to perform as expected. Dylan did not get much chances so far. Once if he comes, there might be some changes. Exit of Adil and Donachie also affected them. Also, opponents are exploiting their wings. Though Dheeraj individually performs well, due to their weak defence, the team conceded goals. Also, they lost some exciting players via injury during the pre-season phase. This is also a drawback.

Why FC Goa's performances dipped after the success of Durand Cup?

There are many factors on why they are not able to continue the momentum after Durand Cup.

• Durand Cup is less competitive as compared to ISL

I respect the legacy of Durand Cup. But compared to ISL, Durand Cup is less competitive. Most of the teams participated in Durand Cup was Second Tier teams (I-League). Most of the ISL clubs participated in Durand Cup sent their reserve squad, except for Kerala Blasters. So, we can understand that competition in Durand Cup and ISL is entirely different.

• Some of their players who performed well in Durand Cup are injured and some are not able to continue their performance after the Durand Cup.

Chances of Comeback

Yes, there are chances of a comeback. We can't judge a team with just two matches. Give them time. If they are able to settle and play as a unit, they can be deadly. With this squad they can do wonders. They have some exciting young prospects in their hands. They have time. The main thing their Coach have to face is recovering his players' mental health. Players are already frustrated. We can see this from their games. Hope Juan can fight off the obstacles soon and recover fitness. If all the players comeback and recover fitness, Juan can have a stable XI. Lastly everything lies in the hands of their Midfielders and Attackers. They are known for their control in Midfield and Attacking rather than their defence. If their Midfield succeed in controlling the game, their attackers will get plenty of chances and defenders have nothing to fear for. If their attacking players are able to convert those chances into goals, they will be a great threat for the opposition. I believe they can create surprises.

Last Verdict

FC Goa is a team who are capable of creating wonders. If things go as planned and if Juan is able to recover his players mentally and make them play as a unit, they can make a strong comeback. They are unpredictable. Opponents has to be cautious. Their thirst for victory can make them dangerous. I believe they can create wonders.

This match gave a mixed feeling to Indian fans. It was India's first match in WAC after 19 years. The Indians were high on confidence that they will succeed in getting three points. But with Iran's good defending, they managed to restrict India to a draw. Also their goalkeeper Koodaei performed very well. Now let’s take a deep look into yesterday's match. INDIA'S CHANCES In the initial minutes of the game Iranians made some quick moments and even hit the Indian crossbar. But within 20 minutes Indians were able to settle and control the game. India dominated the game thereafter, and as a result Indian ladies got many chances but they lacked the final touch. Lot's of Ups and Downs for the Bengaluru FC in the First Half of the League. Here is our review on the Blues performance so far.

By Saurabh 13 January 2022 Bengaluru FC, repeating itself from the previous season. The performance of the team has shown no improvement having lost 4 matches, drawn 4 and won 2. They are currently placed 9th in the points table. We all know that Bengaluru FC from past had always performed well, and because of their performance in 2019-20 season, they had the chance to play in AFC Cup. After major changes, Bengaluru prepared for the league early. All the foreign players left except Cleiton Silva.  They started well with winning two matches to make it to the group stages from the preliminary round. But they lacked coordination which was exploited by the opponents. START OF THE LEAGUE They started on high note as they won 4-2 against Northeast United FC. It was a great start but after that they lost 4 matches and dropped points in rest of the matches due to poor attacking and missed opportunities. CHHETRI AND BFC Whenever Chhetri's name is heard, i

No More a Mid-Table Team! Here is our half-season review on Jamshedpur FC.

By Jeremiah Prince 21 January 2022 Since its inception in 2017, Jamshedpur FC is always a mid-table team. Though they had some good players they weren't able to reach the top 4. But this season, things changed. With good additions and with a good tactician in helm, they are looking very good so far and are now a serious contender for the ISL. Here is an article based on their performance so far.  With 4 Wins, 4 Draws and 2 Loses from 10 matches, Jamshedpur is second placed in league after 10 matches. START OF LEAGUE They retained three of their foreigners, Valskis, Lima and Hartley while leaving out the rest four. They brought in Murray and Eli Sabia from the league and experienced Greg Stewart from Rangers. They also brought some experienced Indians and young talents to bolster their squad.  They started their league with a 1-1 draw against Kolkata Giants, East Bengal. A magnificent victory over last season play-off team, FC Goa which boosted them for their upcoming fi
