MATCH REPORT: INDIA W vs IRAN W

India faced against Iran in match number 2 of WAC 2022. Debutants Iran managed to hold down two time runners up India in a goalless draw. This match gave a mixed feeling to Indian fans. It was India's first match in WAC after 19 years. The Indians were high on confidence that they will succeed in getting three points. But with Iran's good defending, they managed to restrict India to a draw. Also their goalkeeper Koodaei performed very well. Now let’s take a deep look into yesterday's match.


INDIA'S CHANCES


In the initial minutes of the game Iranians made some quick moments and even hit the Indian crossbar. But within 20 minutes Indians were able to settle and control the game. India dominated the game thereafter, and as a result Indian ladies got many chances but they lacked the final touch. Indumati got the first chance in the 24th minute but her half volley flew over the bar. After that Manisha got couple of chances but the next big change came upon was in the 34th minute, where Pyari’s ball flew past in a large difference. In the second half there was no shortage of chances. It was in the 51st minute India scared the Iranian defence. Manisha gave the ball to Pyari, Pyari’s grounder managed to go past Iranian GK Koodaei. But it went out few inches away from the post. First change by Indian Coach Thomas Dennerby was in 55th minute where Sandhya was replaced by Dangmei Grace. She made a huge impact in the game. Inspite of creating couple of chances, fate remained the same. The next chance was in 62nd minute where Indu’s shot was sidenetted which was the result of deflection from Iran’s defending. In the next minute Pyari got a chance, her shot saved by Koodaei. Second change of Dennerby was in 65th minute, Renu replaced Pyari. The major chance of India came up in the 77th minute where Sanju's cross reached Dangmei from a close range header attempt but was denied by Koodaei and the rebound was cleared by the Iranian defence. In the 78th minute, Dangmei fired a shot from a distance but sailed over the bar. Final two changes of India before the game ended was in the 82nd minute, Shilky and Sumati replaced Ratanbala and Manisha respectively. The final chance was in the 90th minute where Grace Dangmei was set to take a shot but she was tackled from behind thereby ending the game in a draw. 


IRAN'S CHANCES


Iran made some quick runs from the wings. 2-3 times they made some dangerous moves. But they were unable to finish or go past Aditi. First chance was in the 11th minute, header by Zandi from a free-kick hit the crossbar and the rebound shot didn't crossed the defenders. Next chance was in the 19th minute, but the grounder from Zandi moved inches away from the post. In the dying minutes of the game, they were close to score a goal through Zandi again. Her shot succeeded in going past Aditi but were rescued by Indian Defenders.


India's next match is against Chinese Taipei on 23rd of this month. Indians must win this match in order to keep their chances alive of qualifying for the next stage.

Ideal Start, but not able to continue it! Here is our review on Chennaiyin FC's performance so far.

Here is our preview on the Marina Machans. Bozidar Bandovic's Chennaiyin FC started their campaign against strong Hyderabad FC. The Nizams dominated on that match but Chennaiyin FC managed to escape with three points with Koman's penalty goal. After that win, the Marina Machans met against Northeast United where they put a strong performance to clinch a win with a 2-1 score line. They were held to draw for the following two matches  They had a 4 match unbeaten streak which was ended by Des Buckingham's Mumbai City FC with a heart-breaking 1-0 loss. They made a strong comeback against Odisha FC where the match ended with 2-1 victory.
